A savvy street vendor used to roast nuts right outside the building I worked in so every time someone opened the door, that toasty, delicious smell would waft enticingly inside. At lunchtime, there I’d be waiting in line to buy freshly roasted nuts, served in a paper cone that warmed my hands on cold days.
