I was sick of having everyones cast off furniture, where nothing matched at all. I wanted a glam modern bedroom…but having hardly anything to spend, I could see I would have to put up with my mix matched, wenge, pine, metal and oak furniture, and never get to have my own dressing table……..or would i?
Create matching bedroom furniture!

- a peice of wood with the length required to fit your gap and the width to not just out further than the furniture.
- Gloss paint
- Paint brush
- Old fabric
- matching colour electrical tape
- Any old mirror
- a hammer
- 4 nails
- 2 small bits of wood about 20mm by 30 mm
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
I cant afford matching furniture, nor could I afford a dressing table. So I put the 2 wardrobes and chest of drawers against one wall and the in thegap in between I added a peice of wood to make a dressing table.
once the wood was cut to fit my space, I positioned the wood, and drew a line underneath it along both sides of the old furniture. This is where I knew I needed to add my wood blocks to balance my table top on. I then nailed on the blocks, and slid the table top into place.
I used an old framed mirror. I stood it on the table and leant it against the wall.
Yes I know before you paint wood were meant to sand, but Im a lazy crafter! So I glossed all the units, It did take 2 coats especially as one of the units was dark wood. I couldnt afford new door knobs to match so I wrapped every knob in a little black cloth, some left over fabric from crafts, and used black electrical tape to hold them in place. I had some large self adhesive diamonties from a cheesy wall freeze i had, so i cut out the stones, and stuck them round the mirror! Done matching furniture..that is classic, contemporary and glam!
