The past week has been one of reflection and a bit of redirection for Tip Junkie. I’ve been reading this fabulous eBook, Mom Blog SEO – 30 Days to Boost Traffic, Readers, Influence and Income,
and learning a lot about my relationship with the Google Gods. Needless to say, we have a terrible relationship. {{sniffle}}
Google does not like me very much and therefore doesn’t send over a lot of readers. Therefore, I’m doing what I would do in any relationship; I’m acknowledging my part and trying to repair our relationship. HA!
Button Using ~ Are You a Tip Junkie?
If you have a minute, I could really use your help! If you appreciate all the work I put into Tip Junkie, and would like to qualify for giveaways, please copy and paste this code onto your blog side bar.

Huge, huge hugs to everyone who adds my darling little blog bling to their sidebar. I cannot tell you how much it means to me. Especially the 400 people who are still linking to tipjunkie.blogspot.com. If you have the old green button, please update it with this darling teal one. That automatically updates the link and helps me achieve an important goal.
Why Is It Important To Link To My Favorite Blogs?
Blog button using by copying and pasting a code link to your favorite blogs does several things.
- It increases “page rank” which is the weight that Google places on blogs and can determine what order they show up for a search.
- It increases Technorati and Alexa ratings which is only important if you’re trying to create a “brand” from your blog. {{which I am}}
- It creates referral traffic and sends people to your blog.
- It increases branding and your blogs online image.
Button Using ~ How to Add a Blog Button to your Sidebar
For Blogger, go into your dashboard and click:
- Design
- Add a Gadget {from your sidebar not header}
- Then click the HTML/JavaScript link.
- In the content box, paste in the code for the button. {You don’t need to add a title unless you want to.}
- Lastly, drag and drop the “Gadget Box” onto the place you would like it to be on your right or left sidebar.
Yep, it’s that easy! I hope you’ll do a huge favor to all of your favorite mom blogs and take a few minutes this weekend and update your sidebar with their blog buttons. They’ll just love you for it! {{high fives!}}
I’m lovin’ me some Tip Junkie!! Added your button to the right side of my GammysHouse.com blog on the right. Just one more thing to be thankful for!!
I’m adding it right now! 🙂 Thanks for all your tips Laurie.. and good luck with your Google relationship 🙂
I already have the button, it’s been on my blog for sometime now.
I think the best ways to find out who’s linking to you are Alexa, Technorati, and Google Alert your blog name.
You have to sign up for Techorati, but then they give you a sweet list of who’s talking about you. It’s the easiest to navigate.
You don’t have to sign up with Alexa – but their site is harder to find the actual place they talked to you about.
If you Google Alert your blog name, be sure to do it like this “Tip Junkie” with the quotes. Otherwise you’ll get a listing of every word in your blog title. It’s annoying. 🙂
Does that answer your question?
No worries Ruth. Blogger has changed things up a lot the past couple years. Feel free to e-mail me if you ever need help. I’m happy to do what I can.
