There are a few moments in life that make you want to pull your sleeping kiddos out of bed and squeeze them as tight as you can ~ for as long as they’ll let you. Recently I had a moment like that. It happened when I got the call that my friend Kami’s precious baby had died….
Kami is a fellow crafter, blogger, and a sweet friend of mine. You might recognize Kami as she has guest posted many times on Tip Junkie, and we’ve been roomies at several blogging conferences. Kami is a in-real-life friend, and her loss feels like my loss. My heart breaks for her and her family.
Kami spent nearly a month in the hospital on bed rest before baby Afton was born at 26 weeks gestation, weighing in at less than a pound. Baby Afton spent a week in the N.I.C.U. before passing away. As you can imagine, their medical expenses are massive and their hearts must be broken.
Kami has written about baby Afton on her blog and her memories are beautiful and heart wrenching and tear jerking and optimistic.
Her words had the power to emotionally move me and compelled me to take those needed moments to love up my children. It’s times like these; that as your heart is bleeding for someone else, you take the time to recognize your own blessings and things that you may take for granted. It is my wish this holiday season that all the hurting hearts will be comforted, and that all their physical and monetary needs will be met. {We can all do our part to help!}
You can read all about baby Afton Jean over on Kami’s blog, No Biggie. It’s important to me that you hear baby Afton’s story in Kami’s words. {grab tissues}

You are a wonderful friend. You all our in my prayers..and I hope all your Christmas Wishes come true. Merry Christmas.
Oh Laurie, my heart just breaks for this precious family…..I just cannot imagine the loss they must be feeling right now. You know, I had plans to clean the house for Christmas today, but after reading this, I’ve decided to stay in my son’s room all day today and just play…and cherish the moment. Heading over to Kami’s blog to read the story in her words…..God bless her heart. 🙁
Hugs

My heart goes out to the family. Dec. 13 was the anniversary of the passing of our second child (god rest her soul). The only thing that gets me thru it each year is: we had also just lost my grandfather (first family member my first child remembered losing) and he said dont worry mommy god must have taken her to keep grandpa company cuz he must be awfully lonely up there without any family!
My prayers are with the Biglers. Being unemployed, thats the best I can do.
Oh Sarah! I’m so sorry to hear that your sister had to endure the same heart ache. My sister died when she was 6 weeks old, and my mother still tears up to this day. It’s such a tremendous loss. {hugs}

My heart breaks for this family. Sadly my own family knows what they are going through at this very time. My sister delivered her 3rd daughter on Friday, stillborn at 21 weeks. Much love to the family!
