Mom Blog to Money Blog Review ~ Day 1
I can not tell you how many times a day I get asked questions on how to make money with a blog. It breaks my heart that I can’t clone myself to give everyone a one-on-one consultation or respond to every email or notification I receive. Therefore, I sat down for 4 weeks and wrote everything I know about blogging in this course, Mom Blog to Money Blog.
It’s an online workshop with a one-time membership fee, which is a one year membership, no strings attached, and no hidden fees. It’s straight from my heart spilling all my secrets, with 16 printable checklists, and 21 how-to video’s. My hope was to make you feel like I was right there next to you and walking you through the process. {hugs}So, are you ready to get paid for your talent and writing writing and bring home the bacon? “I learned what the most valuable real estate was on my blog!”
I learned what the most valuable “real estate” was on my blog.
I re-worked my layout to make sure that I had all the zones suggested by Laurie. The funny thing was that a lot of these things I knew I should do, but I was overwhelmed with where to start. Laurie’s information made me think about what was important and concentrate on those things first. The changes I made have made my blog more organized and simpler to use.
What should I put in my blog footer?
Question for Laurie: What would you suggest I put in my blog footer? I already have an email subscribe box in two other places – should I have it in the footer too?
Answer by Laurie: The blog footer is valuable marketing that most bloggers completely ignore. The first thing to do is decide the purpose you want your blog footer to fulfill. For instance, if you want it to create community, then you need to add your RSS feed sign up box as well as showcase your social influence with stats and ways new readers can connect with you.
As you know Holly, we discuss how to decide your goals as well as the purpose of each key location on your blog in great detail in Day 1 of the Mom Blog Money Blog workshop.
On tipjunkie.com I wanted the footer to “continue the conversation” after they read a great post. I accomplished this by giving them more tutorials to learn from and by featuring more creative women. This goal simulatneously leads to more page views and “branding” for Tip Junkie. To the reader is happy, my featured bloggers are happy, and I am happy. These are the types of win/win situations you want to create as you brainstorm your marketing strategy inside your blog layout.
Personally, I don’t think you can have your RSS feed in too many places. But I’m old school and rely on my RSS feed heavily to create loyal readers and page views.
“MBMB Will Simplify Your Blogging Life!”
“Buy Laurie’s course because it will simplify your blogging life!”
Thanks Laurie! I am currently redesigning my site and that is really helpful. I have decided to use my footer to separate activities by age for my readers. So, at the bottom of the blog you will see the latest posts for each age category helping support moms who need things to do with a specific age range! hahaha.
You know how it is…you got to keep ’em busy!
Thanks again!
