Encourage your child’s imagination with play pretend using these diy play kitchen ideas. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your own. There are some pretty clever tutorials available to make a play kitchen from cardboard boxes to making over an old entertainment center. {{smiling}}

1. DIY Blue Play Kitchen ~ I love this! The inner child in me wants to play with this adorable kitchen by The Crafting Chicks. So much better than the plastic play kitchens. And, fun for both boys and girls!
2. Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Set ~ Make your child’s Christmas dream come true with this amazing DIY modern farmhouse kitchen set by Sincerely, Marie. The play kitchen includes a stove, sink, oven, and refrigerator.
3. How to Make a Play Kitchen ~ One Dog Woof used an old tv stand to make their play kitchen. The transformation is absolutely amazing. They even put it on caster wheels so that it can be easily moved around.
4. Play Kitchen Makeover ~ Crazy Wonderful had previously built a play kitchen using Ana White’s plans, but recently did a modern makeover on it using Pottery Barn’s play kitchen for inspiration.
Ikea Play Kitchen
5. Ikea Play Kitchen Makeover ~ Katie Lamb says, “This is a pretty inexpensive makeover, especially for me since I had most of the supplies lying around in the garage.” She even includes a complete list of supplies and where to find them.
6. Customizing Your Ikea Duktig Play Kitchen ~ Pink Little Notebook put their own spin on the Ikea Duktig play kitchen for their daughter. Gold spray paint, raspberry paint and new knobs were used to make the ultimate transformation. It’s absolute perfection!
7. Ikea Duktig Play Kitchen Hack ~ An $8 thrift store play kitchen gets a beautiful makeover by Anchors & Honey. Some of the supplies used were spray paint, mod podge and wrapping paper. Don’t you just love the wrapping paper backsplash?!

8. How to Turn an Old Entertainment Center into a Play Kitchen ~ DIY Network says, “Toy kitchens can be very expensive. Save money by turning a popular (but inexpensive) 1980s piece of furniture into a personal kitchen for your budding little chefs.”
9. Vintage Entertainment Center Turned Play Kitchen ~ This is a really cheap and easy way to make a fun and original play kitchen for your little one. A great tutorial by Southern Revivals that uses dated or extra furniture.

10. Making A Cardboard Kid-Sized Play Kitchen ~ “You can make it with recyclable materials, and it would only cost cents on the dollar, a great way to help our environment and save money”, says Hometown Betty. She even included a pdf with the step by step instructions.

12. Pack-n-Go Stove Top ~ This pack-n-go stove top is a great solution if you’re looking for something compact that can be easily stored or traveled with. Vinyl was used to make the “coils” and “knobs” on the storage container lid. All of the play kitchen toys can be stored inside the tote when your child is done playing. Brilliant idea!

14. DIY Campbell Soup Cans [free printables] ~ After saving lots of empty coffee cans, Katie Day created these adorable free Campbell’s soup can labels to makeover the coffee cans.
15. Play Kitchen Canisters ~ Makeover thrift store salt and pepper shakers into adorable play kitchen canisters by Craftiness is not Optional. Use this easy to follow step by step tutorial to make your own set.
16. DIY Felt Play Food ~ If you have a little chef in your life, they are sure to love this gift. This homemade set by Everyday Dishes includes food pieces to build the perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner!
