Every girl just wants to have fun, right? Therefore, I’m continuing my recap of who I met and what I learned at the The Creative Connection Event. It was the most beautiful gathering of crafty women and my mind is still whirring with everything I learned and who I met.
Today, I’m featuring my notes on the Entrepreneur Lunch Panel. Even if you aren’t interested in having a handmade business, you’ll love this fabulous montage video of the event I made called “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun“. {{giggle}}
Entrepreneur Lunch Panel
The food and the table decor at the Entrepreneur Lunch panel was out of this world! If you want to see for yourself on how amazing it was, you can check out the Food Glorious Food video that I made for The Creative Connection. It’s a quick 1 minute video and gives you a sneak peek in to the love that went into this event. Here are just a few of the words of wisdom we got during the Entrepreneur Lunch Panel.
- Poverty Breads Ingenuity
- Cathy Filian thinks of the biggest dream and then double dog dares herself to do it! It’s been her key to success.
- Design your product backwards: who is the consumer? What do I stand for? Then decide where to sell it.
- Creativity, functionality, and fun!
- Vikie Howell started a business to feed her own soul and then took the opportunities that followed.
- Where do you want to go next? Crafty Chica says writing crafty novels.
- Once you conquer something – it’s time for reinvention.
- Vikie Howell says to think of yourself as a brand.
- Cathie Filian Found a bigger company to partner with {Plaid} when she developed her Bernini glue product.
- “Build relationships” to find the right people to help you find out how to make your products.
- Heather Bailey now licenses her products and has manufacturers make them.
- Crafty Chica says to embed your photos with your name and year when you upload them online for copyright.
Each of these women were so warm and completely open with their advice. My notes are just a quick blurb in what was discussed during the three hour panel. I hope you’ll consider joining us next year at the The Creative Connection Event.
Kami, Cindy, Marie, Me, and Kim
One of the things that completely fascinated me about all the crafty rock stars at this event was that many of them have worked together either at Country Living magazine or in some other way. They know each other, they have respect for each other, and they have helped each other gain success.
The importance of asking for help, finding mentors, and deciding what you want and then going for it is what I took away from the conference. I also realized the importance of NOT starting at the bottom – but going straight to the top for advice and for opportunities.
Every Girl Just Wants to Have Fun
To try and capture the fun and creativity of the Creative Connection Event, I created this fun little one minute video called Girls Just Wanna Have fun. I hope you enjoy it and brings you a smile to your day! {{hugs}}
I have to thank my fabulous sponsor My Girlfriend’s House! They have the coolest party and packaging supplies.
