I’ve always been enamoured with dramatic headpieces, so after hunting down and attending a ‘Make a Fascinator’ class I was inspired to put this piece together.
Whilst it’s a bit too much pop for a day at the office (unless you have a very, very interesting job), you can dress this down on the weekend with a plain dress or tote it proudly from the seat of a classy restaurant over dinner.
First, I bought a small, plain section of gauze and superglued a hairclip to the back of it. Then, I used bright blue embroidery thread and sewed a margin around the edge of the base to give it a bit more colour.
Then, the best part: watching nature video clips to get inspired, and shopping for the right combination of feathers. Once I chose them, I glued them onto the base and used the thread to go over the stem of the feathers to ensure they were stuck on more securely.
