You Will Need...
- 1 envelope of active yeast {I use red Star yeast}
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 3/4 cup of warm milk {not hotter than 110}
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of melted butter
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups of Bread Flour {I use King Arthur}
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups of Pearl Sugar {Pearl sugar is traditionally used, but I also made them using Raw Sugar}
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
sprinkle the yeast and sugar over the warm milk
allow to sit for at least 5 minutes
whisk together the eggs, butter, and vanilla
add in the milk
in a large bowl combine the flour, cinnamon, and salt
make a well in the center of the flour, and add the liquid ingredients
whisk until everything is well incorporated {the dough will be stiff, and should form a ball}
cover and allow to rise until doubled – about 30 – 45 minutesStep 2
heat waffle iron, and brush with oil or melted butter
place the ball of dough in the center of the iron
cook for about 2 minutes {much longer and the sugar will burn}
Be Careful these are HOT right off the iron
