Have An Organized List Ready
When you are on a time restraint the last thing you want to do is head to the stores with no plan in hand. Before you go shopping, take a few minutes to make a list of people you need to shop for and jot some ideas down regarding what you think they might like. Not only will this keep you organized but it will help you budget instead of just buying everything and anything that you come across.

Don’t Linger
While the malls and stores are festive this time of year with their holiday music and their decorations, now is not the time to hang around and waste time. If you spend some time in a store and realize they don’t have what you are looking for, then move on to the next location.

Shop Online
 
There are many websites that allow you to shop online and have items shipped to you just a couple of days in advance of Christmas. You might have to pay a bit more for shipping but it will save you from having to brave the busy stores in person and you might be able to score a great deal on an item you know your family member or friend will love. Not to mention you can find great items online that you can’t find anywhere else. A life sized teddy bear isn’t something you will find at the mall but online you can make that dream a reality.
 

Get Creative
Keep in mind that when you shop late you might not be able to find the hottest items of the season as they are sold out often weeks in advance of Christmas. That doesn’t mean you can’t come up with good gift ideas though. You might just have to get creative and think of some unique items that you know your gift receiver will love, but that you can easily find. Gift certificates are always appreciated and are practical as well.

Have A Backup Plan
You are dealing with a time limit here so make sure if you don’t find what you are looking for, you have a backup plan. Your backup plan might be a gift card or a different item all together, but having a plan ready will minimize the stress that you experience when you hit the stores knowing Christmas is right around the corner.

Last minute shopping doesn’t mean you settle for the first thing you see when you start shopping. You can spend some time shopping around and you might even want to use your creative side to make something for your loved ones. Christmas is a time for giving but what is really important is spending time with those you love and showing them you care about them.
