Here are our 12 favorite easy homemade musical instruments to make music with your kids. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to introduce your children to simple musical instruments! Make your own homemade instruments with supplies such as cardboard boxes, tongue depressors, sticks and paper towel rolls. Children’s Musical Instrument
1. Popsicle Stick Harmonica ~ Who knew making a harmonica was possible or that it could be so easy. You’ll need popsicle sticks and rubber bands!
2. Coconut Shell Instruments ~ Making these fun coconut shell instruments is easy, but this project is for an adult to make, not your children!
3. PVC Pipe Xylophone ~ This homemade xylophone project is so cool. It takes some planning, but you’ll be amazed by the tone and pitch.

4. Tubular Bells ~ This is such a cool instrument! Use a paper towel roll for the base and then add bells with needle and thread.
5. Cardboard Guitars ~ These cardboard guitars make us want to squeel they are so cool. You’ll need an empty cereal box and wrapping paper roll!
6. Pin Strummers ~ This project is easy, fun and a discovery, really. Let your children help tape bobby pins on objects and then strum them for different sounds.

7. Shakers and Maracas ~ Let your children help make and decorate shakers made from items you have around the house and then enjoy playing them!
8. Balloon Bongo and Rice Shaker ~ This noisy activity is fun, fun, fun and super quick and easy to make. Grab some empty cans and rice or lentels and assemble a balloon bongo!

9. Homemade Rain Stick ~ A rain stick sounds like falling rain and is fun for kids to use. The best part is that you can use recycled items from around the house to make it!

11. DIY Kazoo ~ A kazoo makes a buzzing sound that is super fun for kids to experiment with. You can change the tone by lengthening or shortening the tub or even adding holes. Lots of fun!
12. Homemade Percussion Stick ~ Find a thin twig to make your percussion stick. Using beads, sequins and other craft materials, make an instument that sounds mystical!
