I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
“A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.”
So for today’s Talk To Me Tuesday I’d like to challenge you to pick a word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2010?
To encourage everyone to pick their word, I’m giving away prizes!! Three lucky winners will have their Word of the Year customized to one of these fabulous necklaces.
1. RHB Designs
3. Frostings
Simply leave your Word of the Year in the comments.
Feel free to leave your post link or video, if you’ve created one.  Contest ends Jan. 11th.
INTENTIONAL
i am a firm believer in entropy, the tendency for things to run towards disorder, and i honestly believe that it takes effort to achieve things, even to maintain status quo takes work. so i want to be intentional in the things that matter most, my marriage, my family, my day-to-day actvities. i want to look back and see where my efforts have made a difference.
My word for the yea is Tranquility….I love the definition “quality or state of being tranquil; calmness; peacefulness; quiet; serenity. ”
It is my hope that I can remain this way throughout the year.
My word for 2010 is Fancy.
Fancy – The mental faculty through which whims, visions, and fantasies are summoned up; imagination, especially of a whimsical or fantastic nature. Suggests an imagining often unrestrained by reality but spurred by desires.
What a great idea! My word for this year is believe. Thanks for the opportunity and the gentle push!
Commitment.
This year is commitment–to myself! My goals for this year are all things I’ve said to myself that I’d like to do in the past, that I’ve put forth a little effort towards doing, but goals at which I’ve never succeeded. This year I’m committed to achieving all the goals to which I’ve never given 100% before now!
I’m glad you made this post. I hadn’t really thought about one word that describes all this until now, and I’m glad to have this word to keep me focused.
Thank you! 🙂
