Mom Blog to Money Blog Review ~ Day 5
I can not tell you how many times a day I get asked questions on how to make money with a blog.  It breaks my heart that I can’t clone myself to give everyone a one-on-one consultation or respond to every email or notification I receive.  Therefore, I sat down for 4 weeks and wrote everything I know about blogging in this course, Mom Blog to Money Blog.
It’s an online workshop with a one-time membership fee, which is a one year membership, no strings attached, and no hidden fees.  It’s straight from my heart spilling all my secrets, with 16 printable checklists, and 21 how-to video’s.  My hope was to make you feel like I was right there next to you and walking you through the process.  {hugs}
So, are you ready to  get paid for your talent and writing writing and bring home the bacon?  I’ll show you how.  {{click the links for more info.}}
DAY 5: DESIGN A BEAUTIFUL BLOG!
Day Five’s focus in the Mom Blog to Money Blog is all about the importance of your blog design.  It does matter!  YouÂ’ve heard the cliché, “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” Right? Why is that important?
- You give off a better first impression.
- It reveals how much you care about your job.
- The way you present yourself has a lot to do with how you will be perceived.
The same is true for your blog! Â So, in Day 5, we dress our blog for success!
Kids Activities Blog ~ Review of Day 5

What are your tips for finding a timeless blog design?
Question for Laurie
: Â I love how you equate dressing for an occasion with blog design, but I am having a hard time deciding on a style I can “wear” everyday! Do you have any tips for finding a timeless design?
Answer by Laurie:  Holly, you ask the most amazing questions my dear!  There are a bunch of questions throughout week 1 of the Mom Blog Money Blog online workshop which will help you narrow down your reader demographic, define your reader niche, as well as your main purpose for your blog. Understanding how to brand, make money, create community, and generate traffic with your blog will allow you to organically create a design which truly represents your best self. Then, as you write down and strategize what you want your ‘online personna’ to be, your question will organically answer itself. You first have to know what you want to accmoplish before you can create a design which will accomplish you goal. {right?!?}
So, answer all the introspective questions I ask you, lay out your online personna as to how you want to be known, as well as the identiy you want to represent. Then check out a bunch of blogs, and contact only the designers of the blogs who you absolutely love. I’ve given you a list of some of my favorite graphic designers as well as tons of blog design tips in Day 5 of the Mom Blog Money Blog online workshop.  I’ve also provided a few tips you should know BEFORE you hire a designer. Let’s face it, there are too many designers who are set in their ways. {wink}
So, be sure to pick one who has an esthetic which you want to re-create. Â Send her links of examples of blogs you like, specific graphics from iStock photos you like, and definitely have her give you 2-3 different mock-ups. Design is a process, so be patient and be open minded. It’s ok to sleep on a design because it just might be the one you need ~ not necessarily the one you want. I immediately fell in LOVE with the Tip Junkie girl. The moment I saw her, I adopted her as my own. I found a graphic designer who could read my mind and give me elements that I didn’t even know I wanted. One thing I’ve learned over the years with working with several designers is to let them do their job! Your job is to be as specific as you can up front, then let go and let her do her thing. If you can do that, then you’ll be a great client and end up with a blog design which represents your best self!
