Here are the best free sewing patterns to teach you how to make an apron.  I’ve included every type of free apron pattern including ruffled, vintage and retro, half aprons, and even children’s apron patterns.

1.  Lady’s Apron ~ This apron not only provides protection for your clothing, but with this apron, you’ll look super cute with it on! The ruffles and polka dots add fabulous detail to the otherwise simple apron!

3.  Men’s Dress Shirt Apron ~ Turn a men’s dress shirt into a cute apron with these easy DIY instructions.   

4. French Inspired Tea Towel Apron ~ If you can sew a straight line then you can make this French Inspired Tea Towel Apron.  It’s made from two large flour sack towels, grommets and twill tape.

5.  How to Sew a Gathering Apron ~ An apron that is both pretty and practical. It perhaps won’t carry as much weight as some of the other gathering aprons, but you’ll be happy to answer the door in this one, or even entertain guests for dinner without looking frumpy!

6.  10 Minute Dish Towel Apron ~ If you can sew a straight line then you can make this 10 Minute Dish Towel Apron.  All you need is a dish towel, ribbon and other trim.  You can dress it up or down by the amount of trim you add.

7.  30 Minute Apron ~ Keep your clothes clean of splatters and still look fashionable.  This adorable apron was sewn in just 30 minutes.  The pom pom trim is the perfect touch!

10.  Bandana Apron ~ Rock this stylish no-sew bandana apron!  If you are not inclined to sew then this is the project for you.  Heat-n-bond will become your new best friend.

11.  Vintage Modern Pleated Apron ~ This fun flouncy apron will have you feeling a little bit like June Cleaver!  The form-flattering waist pleats and pleated pockets have the perfect vintage feel.

12.  Simple Retro Christmas Apron ~ An adorable half apron with circle pockets lined with ric rac and ruffle edge.

13.  Vintage Apron ~ Gather your fabric remnants that coordinate, but not necessarily match to sew this flirty vintage half apron.  Put on the finished apron, bake a cake, and flirt with your hubby!

15.  Anthropologie Inspired Apron {Aprons} ~ Inspired by a super cute Anthropology apron, this tutorial will have you creating a similar version for much less! Made for a girly girl, but could be modified for an adult if you are dying to rock this kitchen chic look.

16.  Child’s Fat Quarter Apron {pattern and tutorial} ~ Look at this fun, ruffly, little girl apron!  Fat quarter fabric was used to make it.  The pom pom trip and ribbon ruffle is fabulous.

17.  Easy Child’s Apron Pattern {tutorial} ~ Make this sweet apron for a little darling in your life.  Also, makes a fun birthday gift, especially if you pair it with some kid-safe cooking utensils.

18.  DIY Wipe Down Apron ~ A simple no-wash apron that can be wiped down using a flannel backed tablecloth.  Perfect for kids!  {{smiling}}

19.  Reusable Shopping Bag to Apron ~ With one TJ Maxx bag you can make two aprons, one for mom and one for your little girl.  The bag is non-fraying so you don’t have any hems to sew.  Yay!  The handles are reattached for the neck strap and the tie back.

21.  Kids Placemat Apron {tutorial} ~ Turn an old (or new) placemat into a perfect-sized children’s apron.  (Although I am partial to the vintage look.)  This step-by-step pictured tutorial makes it a piece of cake!
