Downy’s Quilts for Hospitalized Children ~ #DownyComfort Party {5 Prizes}

I just adore a good cause, {{especially when it involves children}} and was over-the-moon excited when I was asked to be involved in the Downy Touch of Comfort Program for the second year in a row.    Founded in 2009,  the Downy Touch of Comfort Program has found a way to help bring the comfort of home to hospitalized children during their hospital stays.  In conjunction with Quilts for Kids, Inc. the Downy Touch of Comfort program has delivered more than 30,000 quilts to sick children, offering comfort and support to those who need it most.

This year, especially, I’ve been able to see first hand how much comfort these quilts can bring to children in the hospital.  My good friends daughter is one of the millions of American children who are hospitalized each year and must confront the challenges of overcoming illness while staying in unfamiliar hospital environments.  She has to go to the hospital every four weeks, and her mother told me that one thing she always brings from home is a blanket.  A soft blanket does have the power to bring comfort to a child who is hospitalized and hearing this really brought home to me how important and special this program this.  I just love that not only do the hospitalized children benefit from the donated quilts, people like you and me can get involved in easy and do-able ways!  I adore that Downy.com offers consumers ways to get involved in the program and witness first-hand the impact of bringing a smile to a hospitalized childÂ’s face.

How to Help

There are lots of ways you can help!  You can put your skills to work and make quilts to be donated to hospitalized children!  Or, you can go to the Downy Touch of Comfort Facebook Page and answer a simple question about what brings you comfort and they’ll donate $2 to Quilts for Kids.  AND, you can join me {{please do!!}} and Liz of Hoosier Homemade on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12th from 8-9 p.m. EST for a Twitter party about the program, how to get involved, and explore ways to bring comfort to those around us.
