Creating lasting memories for my children is very important to me as a mother. Finding ways to start enduring traditions in my home is a priority. Today I’m featuring 19 ways to celebrate the first day of school with several ideas and activities. I hope it inspires you to start a new tradition this month with your family.
First Day of School Activity
I just love this back to school breakfast bash from Super Mom Central.
Why not start off your kiddos First Day with a Back-To-School Breakfast Bash? Make a big “Good Luck On Your First Day” banner, place a bundle of pencils tied with ribbon next to each plate, and serve favorite foods. Name pancakes are guaranteed to send them out the door with a smile on their face.

Every year on the first day of school we go to the ice cream shop and get ice cream cones. Each child gets as many scoops as the grade they are in. 1st grade gets one, 2nd grade gets two, and so on. They really love the tradition and it really helps with first day gitters.

Ooooooooooooooh… wonderful ideas! Thank you for sharing! This year, our only child enters First Grade! While she’s been going to school now for 3 years (pre-k 3, pre-k and even full day Kindergarten), somehow THIS year is… bigger. 🙂 I love the idea of having a memorable First Day of School tradition, other than “mommy’s taking yet another picture!” lol
