Mom Blog to Money Blog Review ~ Day 9
I can not tell you how many times a day I get asked questions on how to make money with a blog. It breaks my heart that I can’t clone myself to give everyone a one-on-one consultation or respond to every email or notification I receive. Therefore, I sat down for 4 weeks and wrote everything I know about blogging in this course, Mom Blog to Money Blog.
It’s an online workshop with a one-time membership fee, which is a one year membership, no strings attached, and no hidden fees. It’s straight from my heart spilling all my secrets, with 16 printable checklists, and 21 how-to video’s. My hope was to make you feel like I was right there next to you and walking you through the process. {hugs}

“I learned that readers love round up posts!”
I’ve learned that round up posts are very popular and people like to go through them. My most popular round ups are unique ones (not ones that everyone has been doing). I get a lot more interactions on my blog posts when I ask my readers what they think or if they have any tips.
When creating a round up post, should you include photos of each link?
Question for Laurie: When creating a round-up post, should you include photos of each link? Let’s say my round up is of 25 things to do this summer. Would you put the 25 photos or just the nicest photos and then list all the links? And, would you put the photos individually or regroup them?
Answer by Laurie: Great question Christine, I’m sure other bloggers have that exact same question. Round up posts are the favorite among search engines {like Google} as well as readers.
In the past 6 years, I have done round up posts in every way possible. I’ve done them without any images, only showing the most beautiful ones, collages which include several images, as well as a picture for each idea and link. The answer actually depends on what you decided are your main goals from Week 1 of the Mom Blog Money Blog workshop. For instance, if you’re writing this round up post in hopes it will become a high-traffic post from search engine results ~ you’ll want to include over 20 ideas/links/tutorials with a picture for each one. And, you’ll want to make sure you name and add ‘alt tags’ into each image as shown in Day 28 of Mom Blog to Money Blog workshop. This will not only index this post into search engines as text but in Google Image search results as well. If you’re writing this post as a round up of your own ideas which you’re creating for inbound links, SEO, and to remind loyal readers what you’ve already posted about ~ then only using a few really pretty picutres will work just fine, especially, if you’re running out of time and are trying to post something quickly.
Pictured collages work great for social media platforms as well as posts with over 50+ ideas. The post would be WAY too long if you added an image for every idea in a post of 101 tutorials. {wink} What’s important to note about collages is that you’ll need to add your post title as TEXT onto a few of the images. This way readers will know immediately what the post is about and the incredible value it gives them. Currently, on Tip Junkie we create a ‘text main image’ with the TJ Logo and color scheme with the post title as text at the beginning of every post. Sure it takes more time, but this way it’s MY image which gets sent out via social media and I don’t have to worry about other’s ideas being taken from them {which is a huge concern of mine}, readers immediately know what to expect and what they will learn, it continues to build the Tip Junkie ‘brand’ and influence, it looks professional, and it’s pretty. {snicker}
This is what works for me ~ there really aren’t any rules. Just keep in mind your time and main goal for the post. My last piece of advice is to make sure you watermark every one of your own images not only with your logo but with your .com. This way when it gets featured on another site or magazine, you’ll be branding your blog and retain image credit. At Tip Junkie we always want to give credit where credit is due. We LOVE promoting creative women!
