I just adore homemade gifts and what’s more practical and useful than a quilt! So today I’m featuring Rachel’s’ tutorial that she submitted on how to make this gorgeous rag quilt. It comes complete with a free tutorial and pictured instructions.
Rag Quilt
First I figured out how big I wanted my quilt to be and went from there. I decided to make my squares 13 and a half inches x 13 and a half inches big. (I wanted a HUGE-un-gous quilt…and man I got one!) Just to be safe I got 6 yards of material for each. Ya I so know that is ALOT but you can cater it to the size you wish! Just remember that youll be layering them. (youll see)
Flannel works best with these kinds of quilts. Happy quilting!
I’m a big fan of rag quilts and in fact have mostly switched to rag quilting because the machine quilting is very easy and you don’t need to make and apply binding.
@Alicia – I thought the same thing at first but then I noticed that there is a rag quilt link in the first paragraph. Click on the purple “rag quilt” in the third sentence and it will link to the website with the tutorial.
I found you through pintrest. I don’t see the tutorial, did I over look it or is it no longer on here?
This blog is got all the points that i wanted to discuss, it has fulfilled my knowledge.Really appreciate you posting this.
I just love rag quilting. I haven’t done a full size quilt yet, but I have done a couple of pillows. 🙂
Thanks for posting. 🙂
Cheers!
