In an effort to empower you, today we are featuring Holly in the Blogosphere’s version of the Master Class. Just like Oprah’s Master Class on OWN, but for Bloggers.

What is Oprah’s Master Class on OWN?

It’s a biography series that shares hard-won insight from extraordinary achievers whose paths have inspired Oprah—and countless others.  There are always 3-5 lessons that viewers can take away from their shared experiences and it is truly inspiring and empowering.  We are hoping to do the same here on Tip Junkie by featuring successful bloggers.

1.  Introduce yourself to Tip Junkies.

Hi! *waves*I am Holly.  I am the mom of three boys who has been married for nearly 20 years to a very patient and long-suffering man. My passion is ideas.  Big ones and little ones.  It enables my website URL hoarding addiction. I also love writing, photography and friends.

2.  What do you think is one thing every new blogger/Mom-preneur should know?

I believe that something that is overlooked is that any blogger or mom-preneur is a small business owner.  Don’t forget that in the early planning stages even though it will seem like overkill.

3.  What have you learned in the past 12 months that has been a “game-changer” for your blog/business?

Start as you plan to go.  I want to keep my personal site a true mom blog.  To accomplish this I felt like I needed to turn down opportunities that caused my content to stray from this goal.  At first it was painful to see good opportunities go to other people (and the perks that accompany the opportunities), but this has brought me better opportunities that actually fit.  It just took a little patience!

4.  What’s one thing you do everyday for your blog/business?

I try to do something every day that will better the site/business because I believe in the power of baby steps.  If I am making progress toward a goal (no matter how slowly), I celebrate it.  Some days are more productive than others, but as long as some progress is made the goal will be met…eventually!

5.  What part of your blog/business are you most passionate about right now?

I am still passionate about blogging after all these years.  It is my media of choice to express my creativity.  It allows me to combine writing with photography and the thrill of a good story.  My background is not in writing, but I have developed a love for it.

6. What are your last words of advice for Bloggers and/or Mom-preneurs?

Make sure what you are doing is a true expression of yourself.  If people visit your blog or purchase something from your mom-preneur shop and don’t know anything more about who you are when they leave, you are selling yourself and what you are promoting short.  Your business is uniquely you and there is no shame in exploiting that.  It is the cornerstone of your success.
