I’ve seen so many darling DIY cake stand ideas!  Here is an easy {and inexpensive} tutorial on how to make a cake stand or cupcake plate.  You’re going to love this DIY Cake Stand and all the fun ways you can use it.

Hey friends! It’s Jamielyn from I {heart} Nap Time and I’m excited to share with you how to make these fun cake plates today! I LOVE cake plates, but they can get kind of pricey…so why not make them yourself?! You can really make these for any holiday, but with Halloween coming up I thought I’d show you my Halloween version. Let’s get started shall we?

Make A Cake Stand

Supplies you’ll need:

  • Wooden base from Hobby Lobby
  • Terracotta Pot
  • Black Spray Paint
  • Metallic Spray Paint
  • Lace
  • Super Glue or E-6000

How To Make A Cake Stand

1. Paint Terracotta Post and Wooden Base in Black. Allow several hours to dry.
2. Tape around the edges, so the silver color won’t bleed through.

3. Lay the lace over the wood. Then lightly coat with metallic spray paint. You’ll want to make sure and remove the lace and tape after a minute or so.

4. Glue the wooden piece to the base of the terracotta pot.

Now you can serve your cupcakes in style! This wooden piece would also be cute to hang as a sign with the words “spooky,” don’t you think?!

If you have any upcoming Halloween parties you can download these cupcake toppers (created by Sugar Tot Designs) for free here.

P.S. This lace spray painting technique may just be my new favorite thing. Make sure to try it… it’s really fun!  Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday!!
