You should start seeing things differently and learn how to use items not for the purpose they’ve been produced for. You may officially consider yourself a creative person, once you discover some new application for an old item of yours. I can give one example of my own experience here: Last year I decided to make a scrapbook for Valentines Day for my boyfriend whose name happens to be Valentine. When I started I realised I was out of glue. It was late at night and it was literally a last minute project. If I wanted to surprise my darling, I had no other choice but to think of some other substitute which can perform the same function as a regular glue. Suddenly it came to my mind that nail polish is steady enough to stick a picture to a sheet of paper. Every girl should have at least one bottle of nail polish at home and must know how to use the most of it. After this experience of mine I decided to make a short list of ideas how to use nail polish for different purposes. After taking a look at this list you’ll be convinced that decorating your fingernails is not the only application of this product.
1.Secure Buttons
If you need your buttons, screws or other things secured, try using nail polish. It’s fast, easy and invisible.
2. Prevent Allergic Reactions
I am allergic to all kinds of metal except gold. And every time I buy jewellery which are not golden I cover them with a thin coat of transparent nail polish. I also paint the inner side of my wristwatch, which is in contact with my skin, in order to prevent allergic reactions.
3. Envelope Sealing
Licking the glue on an envelope is a quite gross activity. To avoid doing this you can use clear nail polish to seal it.
4. Easier Needle Threading
I know from my mom that needle trading is much easier when you dip the end of the needle in a nail polish. When the nail polish dries, the end of the tread becomes hard and it becomes easier for it to go through this small hole.
5. Prevent Unravelling
Most people know about the burning method that prevents a rope from fraying after being cut. I use nail polish instead, because it’s safer and doesn’t make the ends of the rope black as the burning does. You can use some colourfil nail polish to coat the ends of your shoe laces.
6. Make Sure All Screws are Firmly Seated
To make sure all your screws are driven tight, cover them with a thin layer of nail polish and leave them for a while to dry. This will make the spoiling better and elongate the time this screw stays on place.
7. Arrange Objects By Colour
Make a colourful mark on every item of a certain group of objects, so that you can distinguish them from one another more easily. I did that with my house keys. I colored every single one differently, so that I can find the needed one as quickly as possible.
8. Line Levels on a Bottle
If you are a fan of the homemade cleaning products you can mark the levels on the bottle using different colours of nail polish. Mark the place for the exact amount of water needed. Make a special marks for lemon juice, vinegar or whatever natural product the particular cleaning detergent recipe requires. This method may be an essential part of the home cleaning process.
9. Decorate the Case of Your Phone
There are many case covers for phones that are not expensive at all, but protect your phone very well. If you are a fan of the more colourful cases but can’t afford one, why not paint the one you have with nail polish. It’s water resistant and you can draw whatever you like even stick some brocade and beads with the nail polish. After finishing with the decoration, add a top coat of nail polish for a better protection.
10. Use Clear Nail Polish To Stop Stocking Runs
When it happens to snag your new pair of tights, before you get all upset, try to stop the stocking run with a clear nail polish. You will at least minimize the damage. Almost every girl uses this trick. It’s quite old but yet very useful.
