Whether you are living in a rented, leased or in your own home, you sure don’t want your place to look like a series of spaces that are linked together by hallways and stairways. 1. Let More Natural Light In
2. Use Pleasant Scents
3. Use Happy and Motivational Art
4. Keep Clutter Away and Maintain Cleanliness
5. Decorate With Plants
6. The Color Theory

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1

It is actually so simple, there is no light more natural that the sun and there are a handful of useful things you can do to ensure your are using the natural light to your advantage. First of all, you will want to remove all those heavy and light-blocking curtains. Aim for translucent shades that will provide you with the needed privacy and at the same time will let the light into the room.

Other ways to increase the amount of sunlight is by placing mirrors on a wall that is adjacent to a window or opposite a window.

  • Step 2

There is nothing more pleasant than entering a clean, fresh and aromatic smelling home. The trick to having a consistently pleasantly smelling home is by using a few of your favourite essential oils as a part of your ongoing maintenance of your property. The easiest and less expensive way to use these oils at home, is to create your own aromatherapy mister.
If you prefer candles, simply place them where you would least expect and don’t light them.

  • Step 3

This one is obvious. Let what makes you happy and motivated and welcome it in your home. It can be either family photos, uplifting pictures and motivational quotes. Whatever they are, surround yourself with them and enjoy the great effect of happiness.

  • Step 4

A clutter-free home is a happy home. It is natural for our homes to accumulate stuff, but let’s be honest, how many of them you truly need? It starts innocently at first – a book here, a blanket there, but there comes a moment when your place becomes a magnet for more clutter. Put away anything that isn’t at the right place and clean the surfaces.
On a sunny day is the best time to launder the rugs, slipcovers and curtains. Often small rugs can be washed at home, while larger ones need more adequate attention when it comes to cleaning, so you can send them out to professional rug cleaners and enjoy a cold lemonade in your backyard.

  • Step 5

We can’t all be blessed with a garden and a green thumb, but still there are are plenty of other ways to enjoy plants that are still interesting and don’t have to worry whether they will survive. A living centerpiece can last indefinitely, or try planting wheatgrass to create the look of a spring meadow and place your coloured eggs there at the next Easter.

  • Step 6

According to this theory there are certain colours that can affect your mood and cause different emotions and that just by being surrounded by them. This doesn’t mean you have to repaint your walls, but simply add colours in accents, e.g yellow – to boost your mood and energize, while shades of blue will calm you down.
