DIY Deep Cleaning for Your Bathroom
You Will Need...
- Bleach, Vinegar, Baking Soda, Rags, Sponges
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way to keep your bathroom maintained is to keep it dry. Dry wet surfaces with a rug and ventilate the room at least for an hour.
Tip: Always have baking soda, vinegar, bleach and lemons in your home. Those are the most powerful home-made cleaning product. They can be used for almost all surfaces in every room.
Step 2
You can fill your bathtub with hot water and pour a cleaning detergent in it. Leave it for 15 minutes before scrubbing. Usually this procedure is enough to be done once a week. Keep in mind that it is good every time after, you take a chill out in the bathtub to dry it with a clean rug. Always leave your window open after you have had shower.
Step 3
The sink and the mirror are like the eyes of your bathroom. You could use another home-made product for the sink. Take ½ cup vinegar, ½ cup ammonia and ¼ cup baking soda and pour them into 4 litre of warm water. Pour this on your sink and leave it for about 10 minutes, then scrub. Rinse with water and don’t forget to dry with cloth. For your mirror you can use just vinegar mixed with water and lemons. Lemons are the best way to clean and disinfect mirror surfaces.
Step 4
For your toilet you pout baking soda in it, leave it there for a few minutes, then brush and flush. It’s a nice trick to put warm salty water into the brush canister.
Step 5
Cleaning your bathroom tiles is the hardest in preserving your bathroom disinfected. There are ways to clean them on your own but it is actually better if you leave this to the professionals, because it is the hardest cleaning area. If you choose to fight with your own strength, the powerful home product is bleach. Soak a cotton swab into a bleach, then put it on the infected areas. You could use tape to attach it to the tiles.
Step 6
Next step is to clean your shower. Pour an ample amount of vinegar into a plastic bag and tie it for your shower head. Leave it there to soak for a night. In the morning, you can rinse with warm water. It’s good before hanging your shower curtains, to put them to soak in salty water, then hang them and leave them to dry. If your bathroom does not get enough ventilation, you could try a more powerful method. Add ½ borax with ½ vinegar to two cups of water. Pour this onto the spots on your curtains and leave there for 10 min. After that you can scrub with a sponge or a rug. Rinse afterwards with warm water. If you have only bleach at your disposal you could just spray the bleach on your curtains and rinse them after.
Step 7
Don’t forget for cleaning the grout.
The best way to clean grout is to use a toothbrush and bleach. Scrub the grout with the toothbrush and ventilate the bathroom after that. Leaving grout can cause many health problems and it is the best place bacteria love to grow. You need to do this procedure every two months. Don’t forget to ventilate regularly.
