I worked with Ana White and Osborne Wood Products to build this DIY Restoration Hardware inspired Balustrade Coffee Table for my parents. It was easy to build (a great beginner project!) and cost about $200 to make. A far cry from RH’s $1700 price tag! It was such an easy DIY coffee table to make that I decided to make one for our living room! We needed ours to be more square-ish (it’s a word, don’t judge), so it had to be a bit shorter, but wider at 49-1/2″ long by 38-1/2″ wide.

So there are two tutorials you can use to build your own coffee table.

You Will Need...

  • Osborne Wood turned legs (knotty pine)
  • spruce, stain
  • polyurethane

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1

    Cut and join your boards together with pocket hole screws for the bottom shelf.

  • Step 2

    Build the bottom frame.

  • Step 3

    Add the turned legs.

  • Step 4

    Build the planked table top, just like the bottom shelf.

  • Step 5

    Put the top on and attach it with pocket hole screws and wood glue.

  • Step 6

    Stain and finish to your liking.

  • Step 7
