Easily decorate your old vase with jute twine

Do you have an old boring vase that you no longer use but still hesitate to get rid of? The best part about this easy tutorial is that you can simply turn even stained, broken and glued together again (my case) vases into beautiful new ones.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a vase that you are decorating. I’ve also decorated some old olive oil bottle and it turned out beautiful as well.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1

    Wash and dry your vase.
Place the stripes of double-sided tape vertically along the vase with about 4cm (2 in) spaces in between.
Also, place the double-sided tape horizontally at the very top and at the very base of the vase for more security. Later on, you may need to add more tape horizontally if you see that this is necessary.

  • Step 2

Start wrapping your vase with the jute twine. I find it the easiest to rotate the vase while also holding it with one hand and wrapping it with the twine with another. Make sure not to make large spaces between the lines, and even push it upwards when sticking to the tape (if you’re wrapping from the top to bottom).
Continue wrapping carefully until the outside of the vase is no longer visible.
