So many dyes, so little time! Did you know that you can dye yarn with regular ole Easter Egg dyes? Yep! Not the fancy-schmancy new dyes out there but just plain-jane Paas which is made with food coloring.

I was actually surprised at how vivid the yarn turned out! Beautiful, bright colors that you can dye in your kitchen using your everyday dishes. No chemicals to worry about. And this is a fun and safe project for kids, too! So, let me show you how to dye yarn with Easter Egg Color.

You Will Need...

  • -Easter Egg Dyes (made with food coloring)
  • –Wool Yarn (must be animal fiber i.e. sheep, alpaca, etc) I used 1 skein and divided it into 5 mini skeins.
  • –Canning Jars (one per color)
  • -Water
  • -White Vinegar
  • -Microwave or Oven (for oven: need roasting pan or casserole dish for water bath)
