We have all heard or read the line “baby soft skin” or “baby smooth skin” be it from a magazine or from a television advertisement. Most people in the world, if approached by a genie with three wishes, will most likely ask for smooth, pore-free and perfect skin. We have probably tried all the products claiming that it is the way to (or in certain situations that it actually is) the fountain of youth. But we usually end up disappointed. This is because getting beautiful baby like skin is usually the product of a great skin care routine.
Now of course, the best skin care routine depends on the specific needs and issues of our skin. In this articles we will be discussing certain tips and tricks that are sure to improve the over all quality of your skin, giving you a glowing and radiant complexion.
Take it all off
This is like the equivalent of a mortal sin in the beauty world. We all know that sleeping with our makeup on is a big no-no. Sleeping with that much gunk on your face can lead to acne, blackheads and even enlarged pores. Always remember to remove makeup at the end of the day using cleansing wipes or cleansing oil.
Maximum protection
Whatever the weather, it is necessary to give your skin the proper TLC. This is why it is recommended to use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 in it. Before buying your sunscreen check first if it protects you from both UVB and UVA rays. UVA rays are known to accelerate the aging process. Constant sun exposure without sunscreen can cause wrinkles and sunspots.
In the opposite spectrum, it is also important to take care of your skin even in the winter season. The extreme wind and cold that comes with this season are sure to dry your skin out. Always remember to use a moisturizer during the winter.
Toner
It is vital to use a toner with moisturizing properties as opposed to those that are alcohol based since the latter may dry your skin out. Toner balances out the PH levels of your skin and are known to minimize the appearance of pores.
Exfoliate
Make sure to adopt an exfoliator into your routine. It is advised that you exfoliate your skin 2 to 3 times a week to remove dead skin cells (making way for newer and younger skin) and to remove blackheads. Constant exfoliation can also limit the appearance of pores. For those that have sensitive skin and are hesitant to try exfoliation, then you can opt for products that focus on micro peeling instead.
Moisturizer
This is probably the first skin care product in your arsenal. I remember being in middle school when I first bought my very own moisturizer. Giving your constant skin hydration can stop the formation of wrinkles and other signs of aging. Also, a gentle reminder for those that have oily skin, you can opt for water-based moisturizers instead if you’re worried about making your face look like an oil slick.
Beautiful inside and out
Yes, I know that this article is about a skin care routine but we all forget that the most important part of our skin care regimen is actually giving it the proper sustenance and nutrients. There’s a reason people say that beauty is inside and out. (Just kidding!)
Remember to consume a diet that is high in antioxidant-rich food such as fruits and leafy green vegetables. Also, remember to lessen the sugar intake as studies have shown that people who have high sugar intake usually start to show signs of aging as early as age 35.
This may also not come as a surprise that smoking and heavy drinking can cause dull, blotchy, sallow skin and may even make it sag prematurely. Yikes.
Fake it until you make it
All this talk about taking care of your skin makes you wonder if there are any instant solutions to your desire for baby smooth skin, and of course, there is! With the proper makeup tricks, you’ll be looking 10 years younger in a snap!
The first trick is to start applying primer as a makeup base. You have probably heard of this but were probably skeptical of its effects. But trust us primer creates a smooth and beautiful canvass for your makeup. It erases fine lines and pores as well. If you have dry spots on your face, just apply a thin layer of primer over it and rub the spot in small circular motions.
Another trick would be to tap into the magical powers of a highlighter. Highlighters, when used properly, can add a little bit of oomph to your makeup look, making you look more youthful and vibrant in a flash. Just don’t overdo it of course.
I encourage you to give these tips a try! A couple of tricks here and there can give you stunning, smooth and youthful baby soft skin!
