- organic garden soil
- pineapple crowns, slips, or suckers
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Plant crowns, slips, or suckers in soil. Pineapple roots are not deep, so you don’t need to bury the plant in much soil.
Step 2
Watch them grow! Pineapples require very little care. They don’t need to be watered often and plant food is unnecessary. It takes about 12 months for the plant to flower and another 6 months for the pineapple to ripen.
Step 3
Pineapple plants only produce one pineapple. While the pineapple is growing, it can produce slips and suckers. Remove these from the pineapple and plant them. Slips and suckers will produce pineapples much faster, but they can also deplete the nutrients from the pineapple if not removed.
Step 4
Build a garden bed or fill containers with soil. Pineapples grow well in containers but are limited by the size of the container. The larger the container, the larger the pineapple. You can also just dig a hole in the ground and plant the pineapple.
