Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Cut wrapping page into a large square.
Step 2
Fold wrapping paper in half.
Step 3
Fold wrapping paper in half, again. {yep, a second time}
Step 4
Now fold the wrapping paper in half, diagonal.
Step 5
Fold wrapping paper in half diagonally, a second time.
Step 6
Go ahead and fold in half diagonally, a third time.
Step 7
Fold in half diagonally, a fourth time. Mark the curved cut which will make the scalloped edge. {as shown in the photo}

To make the scallop edge in the place mat, cut along your
mark” at the fold while angling down. {as shown in the photo}Step 9
This is what Step #8 will look like as you unfold it.
Step 10
Unfold the paper place mat all the way. As you can see, it will have a lot of creases on it. Use this one as the template.
Step 11
Using the creased version of the paper place mat as the template, trace along the scalloped edges of your template onto a large square of wrapping paper. This will make your final version of your paper place mat.
