“Thinking of myself as a BRAND has been a game changer!”
Thinking of myself as a Brand has been a game changer.
I love that Laurie listed out all the graphics I would need and all the places I should be with my “brand”. Because I never sought out to be a “brand”, thinking that I am has been a game changer!
Should I develop a logo watermark for my photos?
Question for Laurie: I have been adding text to my blog photos with my website name on them, do you think it would be better to develop a logo that would say the same thing, but fancier to use as a watermark?
Answer by Laurie: In my opinion, adding any kind of watermark, whether it’s text or a transparent graphic is vital. Currently, it doesn’t matter which as long as you have something claiming ownership of that image and your content. With that said, if you’re trying to ‘brand’ your blog, business, or service then, YES, a logo would be the ideal option.
Here are a few quick tips to creating a watermark logo:
- Keep it simple. There’s no need to add anything fancy like scrolls or unnecessary graphics. Brand it with your logo and URL.
- Make it readable. Most images are now viewed on mobile phones. So, make sure that your watermark is easily read on a 150×150 pixel image.
- Create it transparently. Having a transparent background will make it easier to add to any type of image. You’ll also want a ‘darker colored’ version to add to white or really light images.
- Don’t add the ‘http’ but absolutely add the ‘.com’. {or .org what ever is applicable} Just having Tip Junkie on the logo doesn’t tell people WHERE to find the information if it’s stolen or featured on someone else’s site. So, be sure to blantanly tell people where to go to find you! For your conviennce, there is a list of exactly what size graphics you’ll want your desginer to create for you in the Blog Set Up Checklist at the end of Week 1o f the Mom Blog Money Blog online workshop. {I made it so easy, ‘cuz you know I’ve got your back!}
