Stuffing is a traditional side dish that is a staple at just about every Thanksgiving table. I’ve always loved stuffing recipes that are passed down from generation to generation, but I’d don’t love making stuffing from scratch. I’m not a fan of drying out and making stale bread! So, when I heard about the new Pepperidge Farm Unseasoned Cubed Stuffing, I was thrilled. I can finally make my favorite “from scratch” stuffing {{wink}} without all the hassle of preparing the bread. Here’s how to make a fabulous Sage and Sausage Thanksgiving Stuffing that I guarantee will fly off the table!

I love this recipe because it tastes delicious, it bakes up beautifully, and it doesn’t need to be cooked in the bird. Best of all, with the new Pepperidge Farm Unseasoned Cubed Stuffing, you don’t have to dry your own bread. {{score}} The sausage and sage in the recipe adds an unexpected flavor that is delightful and that both adults and kids enjoy.
Sage and Sausage Thanksgiving Stuffing Ingredients
- 1 pkg. (12 ounces) Pepperidge Farm ® Unseasoned Cubed Stuffing
- Chicken or turkey broth, 2-3 cups
- 1 onion, diced
- Celery, 4 stalks, diced
- Breakfast Sausage
- Sage, fresh
Stuffing Directions {Step-by-Step}
Step 1
: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown the breakfast sausage in a 10″ skillet. Drain fat.
Step 2
: Dice the onion and stalks of celery. Finely chop a handful of fresh Sage to make 2 tablespoons.
Step 3
: Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a 10″ skillet. Saute diced onion and celery until the onion is transparent.
Step 4
: Empty contents of unseasoned cubed stuffing into a mixing bowl. Add sauteed onion, celery and ground sausage. Add one cup of broth to the stuffing at a time until the stuffing is moist. I used approximately 2 1/2 cups. Add chopped sage, salt and pepper.
Step 5:
Spray Pam or other non-stick spray to casserole dish. Pour stuffing in dish. Bake for 30 minutes, covered for a moist and softer stuffing. Or, my favorite way, bake uncovered for crisp and crunchy stuffing. Enjoy!
