Happy Thanksgiving, y’all! I am over the moon excited to share with you my “fooling sweet spread” this Thanksgiving. Inspired by the Turkey Ice Cream Cake from Baskin-Robbins, I decided to give my boys a real treat this year and “fool” them with a full on spread that was all things sweet disguised as traditional Thanksgiving dinner items.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner!
Turkey Ice Cream Cake
I always have a focal point to my tablescapes and this year my big focus was a Turkey Ice Cream Cake from Baskin-Robbins. The cake is “glazed” with Caramel Praline Topping and decorated with sugar cone “legs” and is the size of a real turkey!
You can order the cake online through Baskin-Robbins’ online cake ordering website! To find a participating location, you can use the “Find a Shop” feature on http://order.baskinrobbins.com/. Enter your address or zip code and look for the “Order Online” icon next to the store location closest to you. Browse through Baskin-Robbins’ gallery of unique cakes, perfect for any occasion!
The Turkey Ice Cream Cake sits on a platter like a real turkey so it makes customizing sweet sides fun and easy.
3 Tips for a Fooling Sweet Spread
Pulling off a “fooling sweet spread” is easier than you may think. Keep in mind that it needs to be visually appealing, that the food needs to fool them, and that there needs to be a purpose. If you can plan your party with these three thoughts in mind, you are well on your way to a Thanksgiving dinner with a twist your family will never forget!
Make It Visually Appealing
My number one, can’t-stress-it-enough tip is to make your tablescape look appealing. You want to pick colors that are appropriate to the season and the occasion, making sure to only select two or three colors that are complimentary. Throw in patterns when applicable that are on-trend and work with your theme. Make sure everything on your table is crisp, fresh, and clean. You want to make your guests WANT to be at your get-together, and the first way you can do that is to draw them in with visually appeal elements.
Fool Them with the Food
The whole point of a Thanksgiving with a twist that “fools” your guests is to trick your them into thinking the food is one thing when it’s actually something else. In this case the whole spread is sweet when it actually looks savory. Get creative making foolishly fun food that’s not what it appears.

Don’t Forget the Purpose
Every party or get-together has a purpose. Don’t forget what the purpose is for your dinner/dessert party. If your gathering is a way to make lasting memories for your family, I guarantee you’ve done it with this fooling sweet spread. However, you also need to make sure that if you have long-established Thanksgiving traditions, you meet them. Don’t over-throw or forget sentimental traditions because you have changed up the way you presented the food.
