If you know me, or if you’ve ever read my blog According to Kelly, you know that I’m the first to admit that I’m not a gourmet chef. To be perfectly honest, when it comes to cooking, I’m not exactly the “adventurous” type. I’m definitely not the type of gal who can throw a few ingredients together (without a recipe), & have it come out tasting great. & since I’m confessing all of my kitchen secrets, I’m pretty much intimidated by cookbooks – words on a page just aren’t enough for me to imagine how a dish is going to look & taste. That’s one of the reasons I have a complete & total obsession with food blogs. (A few of my favorites? Cafe Johnsonia, Dine & Dish, Picky Palate, Smitten Kitchen, & This Week for Dinner.)
Anyway, one of my on-going goals this past year has been to search high & low, sorting through all of my recipes & trying lots of new ones, in an effort to come up with “the list”. You know… the list of “tried “& true” meals, the ones that never let you down & are always so yummy that you look forward to dinner each & every night. Although this isn’t my complete list of go-to meals, I thought I’d share some of our favorites with, & maybe you will share some of YOUR favorites as well (hint! hint! hint!).
Layered Spinach Tortellini Salad
Chicken Enchiladas
Taco Salad
Crockpot BBQ Beef Sandwiches
Baked Tortellini
Taco Soup
Creamy Mushroom Turkey
Cafe Rio Style Pork Salad
Honey Mustard Chicken
Grandma’s Chicken Salad
and for those of you with a bit of a sweet tooth:
Snickers Surprise Cookies
Lemon Freeze with Raspberry Sauce
Lemonade Cake with Lemon-y Frosting
S’more Cookie Bars
5 Minutes in Heaven Cake
Chocolate Brownie Trifle
Enjoy! & feel free to share one or two of your favorite go-to meals!
xoxo, Kelly

Looks like there are a few of us withh the same idea, and probably more to follow…where did that apron come from? I would LOVE to make one!

I see I’m not the only one…. I totally LOVE the apron! Do tell!
For a super quick go to meal that my kids love, we have tostadas pretty often.
You just need a package of tostada shells, a can of your favorite beans, and some shredded cheese. My kids even make them by themselves.. just microwave for about 30 seconds.
I like to add sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes or salsa… but my kids love them with just the beans and cheese. So easy!

These sound great, especially the honey mustard chicken and chicken salad. Thanks for sharing.
One of my “go-to” easy recipes is for crockpot roast. It’s so easy and always turns out well.
1 can beef broth
1 pkg. dry Ranch dressing mix
1 pkg. dry zesty Italian drsg. mix
1 pkg. dry brown gravy mix
Roast (your choice, size and type)
Whisk together first four ingred. Place roast in crockpot. Pour mixture over roast. Cook on low 8 to 10 hours. I serve it with mashed potatoes and cooked carrots. It has great flavor and always turns out so tender.

Thanks for the recipe ideas. And WHERE did you get that apron? I’m really hoping that you (or someone you know) made it and will post a tutorial :-).
