I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.
I thought long and hard about my word of the year and it came as a result of the year I had in 2011. I made you a little video message as to why I picked this word!

My word of the year is SIMPLIFY. Thanks for a chance to win.
My word is dandelion. I know, a bit out of the ordinary. It was something I realized when speaking with someone a little while ago, about our favorite things from childhood. One of mine was picking dandelions for my mom…giant handfuls of brilliant yellow pollen-laden dandelions which she was probably allergic to, but which she accepted with joy and smiles every time I brought them in. So a dandelion reminds me of simple joys, acceptance, generosity and gratitude…all at once, just summed up in that bright little bloomer. 🙂
