Congratulations to our two lucky winners! #358, Bobbiann; and #778, Tonya Dew!
I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.
I thought long and hard about my word of the year and it came as a result of the year I had in 2011. I made you a little video message as to why I picked this word!
for·ti·tude ~ Mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously.

I’ve seen many “word of the year” posts, and for some reason one popped in my head when reading yours! I am choosing the word Balance for this year. I’m a teacher, and that part of my life pretty much consumes me from August to May. I need to find a way to be less consumed…and have more balance between my career and home life.
“Mercy” I recently completed a Bible study that pointed out that forgiveness can be given both with and without a merciful attitude, but that God’s forgiveness always comes with mercy. I am good at offering forgiveness but often lack the merciful attitude and wish to be better about that so that I can be a better reflection of the love that God offers me.
