Congratulations to our two lucky winners! #358, Bobbiann; and #778, Tonya Dew!
I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.

I thought long and hard about my word of the year and it came as a result of the year I had in 2011. I made you a little video message as to why I picked this word!
for·ti·tude ~ Mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously.

Peace
My word is SPERANZA, which means hope in Italian (my heritage). The past six months Our family has experienced my sister-in-law being raped by a teenage neighbor, my father-in-law have bleeding in his brain, and the death of my nephew who was my age (42) and that I spent my childhood with and graduated high school with. If I did not have HOPE it would have been easy to give into despair and it would be nice to have a constant reminder of that SPERANZA! Never lose hope.
This is my fourth year choosing my word. For 2012 I have Hopeful as my word. I will look for hope in all that I am faced with in 2012.
My word this year is DELIBERATE. It will help me focus on what is important, and not doing things by default.
Breathe — juggling kids, a husband, pets, a home, and volunteering seems to make me a little crazy sometimes. I just need to remember to BREATHE!
