Congratulations to our two lucky winners! #358, Bobbiann; and #778, Tonya Dew!
I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.
I thought long and hard about my word of the year and it came as a result of the year I had in 2011. I made you a little video message as to why I picked this word!
for·ti·tude ~ Mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously.

Oh, I did the bonus entry, too!
Oh!!! Can it be 2 words together? BE PRESENT. This year I don’t want to rush. I’ll have goals but they won’t consume me. All I have is today. This moment, the present… As my children don’t behave I’ll take a breath and relish the fact that they are ABLE to be rowdy. Because they’re healthy and mobile which not all mothers can say. I won’t look ahead to the worries of tomorrow or pressure myself to perform. I’ll cherish NOW. The air in my lungs and the ground beneath my feet. That’s all I have and I adore it.
