Congratulations to our two lucky winners! #358, Bobbiann; and #778, Tonya Dew!
I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.
I thought long and hard about my word of the year and it came as a result of the year I had in 2011. I made you a little video message as to why I picked this word!
for·ti·tude ~ Mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously.

My word for 2012 is effulgence. I got laid off in early 2011 and was pretty bummed for awhile. It wasn’t only affecting me but my 3year old son. Right then and there I decided NO MORE! Live life day to day and things will work out! I want to be the best mommy and person I can be and I want people to see that in me and my character…
effulgence:
The state of being bright and radiant; splendor; brilliance.

I was thinking that my word for the year would have to be mastery, but I think your word, fortitude, captures the same ideas, and I like it better. So, copycat me chooses fortitude.
I have chosen the word “change” for this year. Not because I don’t like myself, but because I want to make improvements on myself. I tend to put things off and I want (NEED) to make a difference in how I accomplish things. I’d love a necklace to remind me of the many things I want to change and improve!
