3 Free Surgical Hat Patterns {uniform}

Looking for a medical cap pattern?  I’ve gotten a few requests over on the Tip Junkie Facebook page for free patterns for a surgical hat.  You know I aim to please so here are several Dr. Scrub medical cap patterns for a medical uniform. {aka the scrub hat}

Medical Cap

Here are some free scrub hat or surgical cap tutorials that I’ve found:

Make your own scrub cap – Since it’s eventually going to end up on your head, I would recommend getting a cotton fabric then follow these instruction for a drawstring enclosure to tie in the back.

How to make a Medical Cap – This surgical hat has a little bit of elastic in the back for comfort.

Scrub Hat Tutorial – Here are instructions on how to make a medical cap for someone who has medium to long hair.  If you leave off the ties, it can be used by someone who doesn’t need to hold their hair back.

I just love all of the colors that they are made out of.  It really spices up an every day uniform.  These can be made for a nurse, food service worker, doctor or anyone else who wears a scrub hat!  They’d make a fun homemade gift or stocking stuffer for the holidays.

If you have a  sewing idea or tutorial over on your blog, we’d love to see it! Feel free to leave the blog link in the comments or on the Tip Junkie Facebook page or right here in the comments, and I’ll be happy to find it and upload it for you! {{I’ve got your back!}}

  3. Hi there,
    Looking fort a free pattern for a scrub hat with elastic in the back. Thank you.

  4. I hope that all you people who look at how cute these “surgical hats” realize that they are NOT endorsed by the organizations who set the recommendations for appropriate attire in the operating rooms. If you are about to have surgery anywhere and the people performing your procedure are wearing these….RUN AWAY!!! They are NOT washed in between cases and believe me when I tell you that stuff gets “sprayed” during some cases and if you want someone elses stuff in your operation site then go ahead.

  6. When you are in an operating room, nothing from the neck up is considered sterile anyway. So, nothing that goes into the patient’s body or touches the patient ever touches anything on the surgeon’s face, neck or hair. This means that these hats are totally fine to wear in an operating room, and it’s not discouraged by any organization to wear these hats. They prevent the surgeon’s hair from dropping into the operating field, and there’s nothing wrong with wearing them multiple times in a day as long as they are not visibly soiled. People wear them all the time in every operating room in the world, and I think that it allows people to express themselves in a workplace that has a very strict (very sterile) uniform.

  7. great post. it is very helpful for people. i will tell my other friend to visit that site for there help. thanks for the nice post.

  8. Where do I go to get this pattern. I have looked and looked and every site is a dead end, even though it will say it is a free download.
