I haven’t done a blogging tip for a while and so I thought I’d feature a couple of the newest Blogger gadgets.
I’m sure you have noticed that when you log in to your Dashboard on Blogger to do a new post, you’ll see the number of “followers” you have on your blog.
You can easily add this to your side bar by clicking on the plus sign next to the Followers Gadget.
To add the blogs you are following and show up on this list is also easy. Go to your Dashboard and then scroll down to the bottom. You’ll see this picture and press ADD. You can import the blogs you want from your google reader.
You can then take it a step further and add the Blog List gadget to your side bar. It works just like Google Reader/Bloglines and will it will show how long it’s been since there was a new post.
Personally, I’ve been ignoring this new update just because I don’t like change. Yes Ladies, I like things the way I like them and software updates annoy me. {{giggle}} Anyway, a while ago, I read the funniest post about Blogger’s new function “Add Followers” over on Paige’s Blog and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
Paige seriously cracks me up. However, she really has a good discussion topic. Does this new feature cause additional Blenvy and competition? Please comment, I want to know your honest feelings. Also, have you decided to add it to your blog? Why or Why not?

I read all my blogs in a reader. Period! I added the followers because someone asked me how they would subscribe to my blog so I gave them 2 options, I appreciate my subscribers, I just don’t care whether the follow me or just subscribe via RSS.

It’s an easy way to follow updates in blogs you like without having to sign in to another application, and to find great new blogs by clicking on what other people are reading!

I put mine up for a couple days, but no one followed! I like to tell myself it’s because it was so far down on my sidebar…I finally took it down. I found myself having middle school popularity issues all over again! Not worth it!

I do have quite a few blogs that I follow. I read the updates in my dashboard. I added this feature to my blog today. I’m pretty new at blogging so I don’t have any followers.

Yeah, I personally think it’s pointless. I guess the point is to see who is reading (or stalking) your blog but there’s not way everyone who reads would become a follower. Also though, I believe you can read all the blogs you “follow” in the dashboard and I think that’s the primary purpose.
I am perfectly happy with google reader and have ignored this gadget!
