I haven’t done a blogging tip for a while and so I thought I’d feature a couple of the newest Blogger gadgets.
I’m sure you have noticed that when you log in to your Dashboard on Blogger to do a new post, you’ll see the number of “followers” you have on your blog.
You can easily add this to your side bar by clicking on the plus sign next to the Followers Gadget.
To add the blogs you are following and show up on this list is also easy. Go to your Dashboard and then scroll down to the bottom. You’ll see this picture and press ADD. You can import the blogs you want from your google reader.
You can then take it a step further and add the Blog List gadget to your side bar. It works just like Google Reader/Bloglines and will it will show how long it’s been since there was a new post.
Personally, I’ve been ignoring this new update just because I don’t like change. Yes Ladies, I like things the way I like them and software updates annoy me. {{giggle}} Anyway, a while ago, I read the funniest post about Blogger’s new function “Add Followers” over on Paige’s Blog and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
Paige seriously cracks me up. However, she really has a good discussion topic. Does this new feature cause additional Blenvy and competition? Please comment, I want to know your honest feelings. Also, have you decided to add it to your blog? Why or Why not?

I notice the new feature you referenced plus the “Followers of this Blog” feature on a lot of blogs. I have a WordPress blog so I don’t have access to such features. I wonder if there is a way to track followers via WordPress…just another thing I need to add to my “to do” list.
I don’t like the blog followers feature. Mainly because I only have ONE follower – boo. It just popped up on my blog and I didn’t know how to get rid of it until I read this.
I do like the blog roll feature though. It makes it much easier to follow the blogs I love. I get you about blenvy. It’s hard not to compare your blog to others out there. That’s why I’m getting a new blog makeover this week.
I added it but then took it right back off. I read all of the blogs I subscibe to (including TipJunkie ๐ ) using google reader and when I added the follower thingie, it messed with my reader, so I took it off.
I don’t like change either ๐
I haven’t made mine public yet — I thought about asking them all if they would want me to “show” them. Maybe they don’t want me to broadcast it, you know? I just save any faves I don’t have linked to my blog in my favorites and click on them daily to see the updates. I’m old-fashioned that way! ๐
