Amy with Mom Spark
Introduce yourself to Tip Junkies.
Hello! I am a work-at-home mom of two boys and wife to an insanely handsome jingle writer. (no, seriously) In 2008, I started a blog, MomSpark.net, as a way to connect with fellow moms who were experiencing the same joys and challenges of parenting I was. I was looking for an outlet as a stay-at-home mom and quickly found the community I needed in the social media and blogging world.
Mom Spark now consists of six writers and has a wide range of articles for moms that include recipes, product reviews, arts & crafts, travel, blogging advice, and an active community forum. Mom Spark also works with several brands that include Rayovac, Popsicle, Hewlett Packard, Foodily and more.
In 2009, I founded the successful MomMadeThat.com, an online listing registry for mom businesses to promote and advertise their goods and services. Mom Made That! currently has over 200 business listings and was recommended by Etsy.com as an economical method of advertising.
Most recently, I launched my own social media company, Mom Spark Media, which helps mom bloggers further their blogging paths by offering instructional blogging and social media courses, as well as unique opportunities to work with brands. Mom Spark Media has worked on large online campaigns with Jockey International, Pop Secret, Dell, VTech Communications and more.
What do you think every new blogger/Mom-preneur should know?
I think every new blogger and Mom-preneur should know PATIENCE. Growth takes time, experience and lots of patience. Every successful woman I know became so by working hard for a long, long time. Success doesn’t come overnight.
What have you learned in the last 12 months that’s been a “game changer” for your blog/business?
A serious “game changer” for me was remembering who I was and why I started blogging. I realized that the more I stopped forcing my blog to grow and concentrated on the content and relationships instead, things like money, traffic, and participation grew naturally.
What’s the one thing you make sure you do each day for your blog/business?
One thing that I make sure I do (besides drinking my morning coffee) is checking in with my community. Having a personal relationship with my readers, network, and social media followers is extremely important to me.
What part of your blog/business are you most passionate about right now? And why?
I am most passionate about the recent launch of my social media company, Mom Spark Media. Each day, I am blessed to present fun opportunities to bloggers, both new and old, as well mentor, support and build friendships with each one of them. The same goes for the brands and PR reps that I have connected with through MSM. I never new marketing and mentoring was a passion of mine until I jumped into it.

Last words of advice.
Stay true to yourself by always adding your own flavor into your writing and work. If you keep on track with your passions and dreams, everything else will fall into place. Take risks, but play smart. Keep patient and positive.

At first, I read the title as: Angry with Mom Spark. Which could also be blog inspiration, for some! But seriously, great tips and great series. Looking forward to the rest!

Thank you for the tips! I have just started a blog and currently unsure whether it is suppose to “go” anywhere or if it is just an outlet to share my heart and encourage other moms and women…a “you are not the only one who…” type of thing. Congrats on all of your success! You have provided some great information to fellow mom bloggers. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the feature!
