I was really struggling with my high functioning autistic son during church with his inappropriate behaviors. So I made him a book that not only explains the routine but also behaviors.

Church Flip Book (1938 downloads )
I took pictures of him at church, pasted it to colored paper, and laminated it. I attached it with an “O” ring. (Just like the “All About Me – Flip Book, and All About My Family” book.)
Examples:
* I can be reverent at church.
* I can read books, play with toys, and sing at church.
* I do not make loud noises. I am soft and quiet during church.
* I sit quietly in my classroom.
* I say hello to all my friends. I do not poke my friends. I do not make loud noises in my classroom.
* I sing during singing time.
* I look at the teachers in front of the room and hear what they are saying.
* I sit in my chair during sharing time. I want to learn about Jesus Christ.
* I do not get out of my chair. I do not touch my friend sitting next to me.
* I turn my head and listen to the teacher talking to me.
* I am a smart boy. I want to be happy. I want my friends and teacher to be happy.
* I will make good decisions at church. That will make me happy. That will make my teacher happy.
