I love a good cause, {{especially if it involves children}} and was absolutely thrilled when I was recently asked to be involved in the Downy Touch of Comfort Program. Â Â Founded in 2009, Â the Downy Touch of Comfort Program has found a way to help bring the comfort of home to hospitalized children during their hospital stays. Â In conjunction with Quilts for Kids, Inc. the Downy Touch of Comfort program has delivered more than 20,000 quilts to sick children, offering comfort and support to those who need it most.
I thought that this program was a program that many of my readers would be excited about as well since so many of you are sewers and quilters and have such huge hearts. Â Just think of the good we could do individually and collectively if we all got involved! Â {{high fives!}}
3 Ways to Get Involved:
Getting involved is easy! Â There are a 3 ways to get involved:Â
1.  You can create your own quilt and send it to Quilts for Kids, Inc. for distribution to a child in need!  {{I think this way will appeal to so many talented Tip Junkie readers!}}
- Fabrics should be brightly colored and kid-friendly.
- Fabric must be “new,” unused and not clothing/draperies/etc.
- If you donÂ’t have your own fabric, you can visit the Quilts for Kids website  and request a free quilt kit.  I love that the kit contains a label which can help you share the story of your quilt with the child itÂ’s delivered to.  I was given the quilt kit and will be posting a tutorial next week on how to make the quilt.  It’s a simple pattern and a beginner sewer can tackle this project in a few hours.  {Stay tuned!}
- If youÂ’re a more advanced quilter, you can download the pattern for the official Downy Touch of Comfort quilt!
2. Â If you donÂ’t quilt, you can make a direct donation to Quilts for Kids, Inc.
