12 Earth Day Crafts and Art Projects


April 22 is Earth Day and a national holiday celebrated in the USA.  It’s just a fun day to celebrate our world, plant something new in the ground, and craft using recycled products you have around your home.

These Earth Day crafts include easy art projects as well as DIY seedling tutorials you can make at home.  They are creative ways to be more green, enjoy some new activities for kids, and celebrate the Earth.

What Is Earth Day?

Earth Day is celebrated to mark the anniversary of what some consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.  It is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment.

Eggshell Seed Starters

1.  Eggshell Seed Starters ~ Spring is officially here which means it’s time to start planting.  Instead of purchasing the seed starters from the store try making your own with eggshells.  They’re perfect for labeling and also as a fertilizer.  {{smiling}}

2.  Homemade Holidays: Seed Bombs ~ Seed balls, or seed bombs, a little earthen truffle, are perfect treats for anyone who appreciates a beautiful flower.

3.   A quick and easy activity for kids using thin plastic ornaments made to look like Earth’s by Nothing but Country if filled with blue, green, an white M&M’s.

4.  A slab of stone and a few overturned flowerpots make a Repurposed Potting Table by Martha Stewart that blends into the garden so well, it almost looks like something you unearthed while turning the soil.

5.  Create dimensional Tree Art by Glued to My Crafts from empty egg cartons and paint.  I’ll bet you have some egg cartons leftover from Easter eggs.  {{wink}}

6.  An Easter and an earth day craft all rolled into one. Use round soda plastic bottles to create these darling little Recycled Pop Bottle Animals by Fryman Four.

7. Turn an old t-shirt into a reusable shopping, grocery or toy bag in no time with this easy & quick no sew tote bag tutorial by the Seaman Mom.

8.  Here are two versions on how to make cloth napkins by Skip to My Lou, one with mitered corners and the other with square corners.

10.  Plantable Paper Earth ~ Made from recycled materials, this homemade paper has added seeds so that it can be planted.

11.  How to Make Hairy Friends ~ Here is a great tutorial on how to make potted hairy friends with pictured instructions.

12.  Play Doh Bird Feeders {Craft Projects} ~ Check out this super cute way to use old play doh lids! Your kids will have a blast making these little bird feeders as well as watching the birds come to eat! A great craft project for a variety of ages to enjoy!
