What Is Earth Day?

Earth Day is celebrated to mark the anniversary of what some consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.  It is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment.

Activities for Earth Day

1.  Paper Mache Globes ~ A great craft to remind children to love the earth.  A foam craft ball and tissue paper was used to make the globe. 

2.  Earth Day Party  ~ Using recycled products you can create a beautiful Earth Day party, which happens to be April 22nd!  Earth Day is a day to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.  Some of the amazing ideas include recycled map party hats, diy paper mache globes and a recycled tassel garland.

3.  Earth Day Wreath {free printable} ~ Recycled children’s party supplies were used to make this beautiful wreath for Earth Day.  Use the free printable banner for the finishing touches.

4.  Earth Day Nails ~ Grab your green and blue nail polish to decorate your fingernails in honor of Earth Day.  If you can make squiggles you can design these earth nails.

5.  Earth Day Banner ~ Create a festive banner using painted coffee filters and string them together with tulle.

6.  Earth Day Scavenger Hunt {free printable} ~ This game is great learning tool for the kids that helps them interact with their surroundings. They’’ll have a ball searching high and low for all the goodies on their list! There are over 15 items to find on the list, including special items of a certain color, shape and texture.

7.  Earth Day Crayons ~ Melt blue and green crayons into earth-colored shapes.

8.  Egg Carton Tree ~ Create dimentional tree art from empty egg cartons and paint.  I’ll bet you have some egg cartons leftover from Easter eggs.  {{wink}}

9.  Earth Day Slime ~ Kids will love being scientists for a day and making their own batch of slime. Only 3 ingredients required, Elmer’s glue, liquid starch and food coloring.

10.  Playdoh Planet Earth ~ This easy craft doubles as a craft for schoolage children and as a prompt to learn about Earth Day. Children will love the earth your created with playdoh, and their faces will really light up when you cut the earth in half to show them all the layers.

20.  Earth Day Watercolor Art ~ Show your love for mother earth by making art with watercolors.  A hand drawn and cut heart is used for the template.

21.  Shaving Cream Plate Earth ~ Make homemade finger paint with shaving cream, food coloring and school glue to paint the earth for Earth Day.

24.  Earth Day Cookies ~ A generic cookie mix was dyed blue and green then the colors were rolled together to make the earth pattern.

26.  Rainbow Earth Day Marshmallow Pops ~ Check out these adorable Earth Day Marshmallow Pops! You can create your own using food markers.  Easy peasy!
