There are many easy first day of school activities that you can turn into traditions and do with your kids. The first day of Elementary School is the perfect time to start, but if you’re child is beyond that; it’s never to late to start something wonderful.
Going back to school is an exciting time, so here are several activities and craft ideas you can do with your children to make it even more memorable.
First Day of School Activity and Tradition
Mama’s a Mess, makes a first day of school cake every year as a fun tradition for her daughter. Sharon quickly decorated this cake with M&M’s, simple and yummy! What a fabulous way to celebrate the first day of school.

My favorite first day activity I have my kids do is create a welcome sign. That way they can see and enjoy it throughout the year!
Getting lovely girlie things all nicely packaged up – I hadn’t thought of that for my three, albeit I have 2 boys and a girl. What we do is shop for back to school stuff and new pencils, rucksacks, pencil cases and so on. But I quite like the idea of giving them non-school stuff too, like the lip balm, so thanks for giving me some new ideas.
Every year I do a countdown for the 5 days before school. Each day the girls get a little back to school treat .. new colored pencils, lip balm, a first day of school dress, new backpack. The stuff I would get them anyway. But all wrapped up and exciting!
