I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I haven’t made any specific resolutions for 2011, my goals tend to come a little at a time during the year but I think my word is going to be CALM. I’d love to have CALM in my home to help life run more smoothly.
