I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
“A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.”

IÂ’d like to challenge you to pick a word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2011? To encourage {or bribe} everyone to pick their word, I’m giving away a custom necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs, a $52 value.

My word is SIMPLIFY. We need to get our clutter under control and the lessons I’ve been teaching my children about tidying up after themselves are not sinking in. It’s hard for me to keep up with the family – my own stuff is challenging with all of my hobbies and last year’s injuries from an auto-collision. Slowly, I keep moving forward and having a mantra will help me to stay focused, even through the tough days.
My word this year is “Family” . What a neat idea — and great necklace.
I’ve never done this “word” of the year… I think it’s amazing though. I think my word would probably be “cherish.” My baby which is now 3 is growing so fast, I just want to stop and cherish every moment.
My word for this year is PEACE. Last year it was comfort and little did I know I would need it again this year. But I am hoping to find peace in my life and make peace with certain events that occurred last month that are out of my control.
