I first discovered the Word of the Year in 2007 by Michelle, Kristi, and Lisa and was immediately inspired by the idea originated by Alli Edwards:
“A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.”
What’s My Word of the Year? You’ll have to watch my video to find out.{{giggle}}
Word of the Year
IÂ’d like to challenge you to pick a word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2011? To encourage {or bribe} everyone to pick their word, I’m giving away a custom necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs, a $52 value.

My word of the year is authentic! I’m trying to be more “me.”
strength. I am going to keep on keeping on. I want to do this with strength and courage. But, strength is my word. 😉
For multiple reasons my word would be patience. I think having a necklace to wear on a daily basis would serve as the perfect reminder of the importance of it.
My word for 2011 will be “Settle.” There are a number of areas in my life that need some adjustment to help me move forward in a positive way. If I can calm or resolve the feelings that keep me stuck, I believe all will be better with my world – personally, professionally, health-wise, emotionally and creatively. A better me means that I have more to give to other lives I touch.
I love this idea! It allows us to gain strength from a single word throughout the whole year and really seems to make more sense to focus on a virtue rather than a meaningless resolution. With that said, my word of the year is going to be….
Courage
My hubby & I are in the process of adopting a child that is in foster care to add to our family of three. We are almost done with the classes required by the state and are getting so excited! There is a 9 year old girl that lives about 5 hours away from us and we cannot wait to meet her. I know there will be struggles along with the snuggles, but with Courage and love and devotion, we will get through and come out a happy healthy family.
